Final day

​What a wonderful trip! Our final day we spent some time shopping. Met our hosts family and purchased some craft goods from a local friend. The culture here is so friendly. We also spent some time debriefing and talking about the biggest blessings of the trip. How can we possibly choose?  Most of us said the look in someone’s eye when they were able to see well for the first time. We also appreciated the team dynamics and how well we all worked together. Even though we were here to give to others we all received much more. Basically we can’t outlive God and for that I am forever grateful. Mungo akubariki. God bless you!

Cultural day

Each MOST mission includes a cultural day. We were able to go on a safari in the Ngorongoro crater. We spent about 6 hours exploring the crater and hearing the history of the area. It was a highlight of the trip. 

Final day of clinic

​we wrapped up our final clinic at Next Life in Arusha Tanzania. What a wonderful blessing. We served 72 people to day and distributed 45 glasses. Total people served in 6 days was 479 and a whopping 382 glasses given out. We also gave out eye droppers, sunglasses, and most importantly bracelets and puppets that tell the gospel. Laurence, our host is doing amazing things in Arusha. We wish him and all the community God’s blessings.

New clinic

​ Today we went to a new clinic spot. It was wonderful. The place is a sort of refuge and school for many troubled youth. The children were wonderful and loving. Throughout our time in Tanzania our team has expressed our appreciation for the wonderful people here. Even through all their struggles and hardships they have no resentment or embarrassment. They are full of love and hospitality for each other. We served 69 people today and distributed 85 glasses. 

Last day at Majengo

​today was our last day in the village of Majengo.  We were able to serve 81 people and hand out 90 pairs of glasses and one white cane. What an amazing group of people. All of Gods people are basically the same throughout the world and our team is discovering how we all have the same needs, we all like to have fun, and we all are appreciative of each other. The quote of the day came from a young boy who looked at one of us and said “are you enjoying the life of the giving son?”

Full day at clinic

​We got an early start today. Arrived at clinic around 9:00. We had a short stop along the way to tighten the lug nuts on our vehicle (that’s how rough the roads are). 4 local pastors showed up to start our day off with prayer. It was very lively. Clinic went well. We stopped seeing people around 3:30. We served 103 people today. Distributed 121 glasses. Some of the challenges involved those with very poor eyesight.  We were able to hand out several prescriptions in the +5 or higher level. One was even a -10. It’s wonderful to be able to provide some sight for those that are practically blind. 

Day 2 God is good!

​this was a wonderful day. We attended a local church near the clinic. It was presented in Swahili and Maasai but we were able to follow along somewhat. Clinic ran from 11:00-3:30. We served55 people. Handed out 75 glasses. The youngest person was 5 years old. The oldest was 120. 

How did we see God?; the church service, the faces of the people on the community especially the young ones that could see and read with glasses. We see God in the logistics of traveling the busy, bumpy roads. We see God in the controlled chaos of clinic. We see God when sharing the gospel with other religions that showed their curiosity. 

God is good!

1st clinic day

​Today we drove about an hour and a half on very bumpy and dusty roads to our clinic location. We saw 33 local people. We tested and handed out eyeglasses to about 29 One of our team noted a special dad that arrived with two young sons. He was only interested in getting them glasses and refused his own registration at each station. Finally at the testing station he was persuaded to get tested and it turned out he needed glasses himself. How special that all three were able to get what they needed.

Finally arrived

​A very long day of travel. The group came from our various homes and met in Amsterdam. Another long leg of travel brought us to Kilimanjaro. Got through customs and about a 90 minute drive to Arusha and our lodging facility. A great nights sleep prepared us for our first day of clinic. Unfortunately we were missing 6 suitcases of materials and Rita. Hopefully, Picking them up later today.

​today is day 1 of our trip. We are so excited, nervous, and blessed! Picked up the glasses at MOST and headed to the airport.
